Feelings.

Feelings are deceptive. Truth stands. How are you living? Truth or feelings?

Feelings are deceptive. They cause you to believe things that are not true. They cause you to disbelieve things that are.

Feelings are not evil. They were created by God for and with a purpose. Often, however, we find ourselves deceived by them.

And if we are truthful with one another, we would readily admit that we see a culture around us that bases everything on feeling. If it feels good to you, do it. If it feels right, go with it. If it feels true, believe it.

Is it any wonder that our culture is confused? What often feels good to us is selfish. What often seems right, is actually wrong. And what feels true, can be a lie.

So, do we forget feelings? No, they have their place, yet we need to always check our feelings against the backdrop of what God’s word says. Scripture is the plumb line by which everything else is measured.

I have found in my life, that when I act based on my feelings, I often get it wrong. If I take the time to get in the word, seek God’s presence, and accept what I find, I will obey His truth, believe His truth, and live by His truth instead of my feelings.

“This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to al that is written in it’ for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success.” ~ Joshua 1:8
