True Friendship

True friends are a blessing from God. We need them in our life to speak truth and walk through the valleys.

“A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.” – Proverbs 17:17

Friendship. It’s one of those things that we truly need, but is so difficult to come by.

Yes, we all have a multitude of “friends.” Those people we think we know, but don’t actually know. Do you understand what I mean? We know their name, what they do on the weekend, and perhaps their favorite television program, but when we need a confidant, a trustworthy person, we wouldn’t turn to them.

The passage in Proverbs tells us that a true friend loves us always and is there when we need them the most. A lot of “friends” would not be that way. So, why do we call them friends?

It reminds me of FaceBook. We have, like, 500+ “friends” but only actually interact with maybe 10?

What makes a true friend? A true friend is one that will stick by you, love you through the rough places, and be your companion in the difficulties.

If you have a friend or two like that, be thankful. Sometimes we get discouraged by the fact that we only have one or two true friends instead of dozens. We should instead be grateful for those few and give them the same love and consideration they have shown us.
