You can’t stop me…

Distractions. They seem harmless, but often can interrupt in a way that causes our spiritual momentum or progress to halt.

It’s true that not all distractions are bad. It’s good to take the time to evaluate each one and be sure where the distraction is coming from. BUT often, especially if we are doing a work for the Lord, the distractions that we will face will be coming from the enemy.

The enemy often attacks us blatantly when we serve God, but he is crafty. When those attacks are continually being handed to the Lord, he will look for a way to get to us.

We see this in the story of Nehemiah. The enemies were actively opposing them, but when they continued to work towards the goal, the enemy got stealthy. The enemy came at them with a different angle, offering friendship and wanting to merely discuss what was going on, as if interested.

You can read the story in Nehemiah. The focus verse is Nehemiah 6:3. “So, I sent messengers to them, saying, “ I am doing a great work and I cannot come down. Why should I leave it and come down to you?”

We need to look at distractions from the enemy in the same way. We are doing a great work for the Lord and cannot stop to entertain the enemy.

Keep your eyes on Christ. Keep moving forward in His name. And never forget you are doing a great work!
