Change is coming…

I know, I know. I missed the grand opportunity to publish a blog with the obligatory New Year message. That’s okay. Everyone else did it for me! I tend to rebel against the status quo and quipping in with the same stuff.

Yet, there is one New Year tradition that I find meaningful. Choosing a word. A word to describe the year to come. Of course, in reality, no one really can choose a word to describe the year that has yet to become fulfilled. A person can choose a word they wish to see in the coming year. They may decide their word of the year is “growth” or “fulfillment” or “joy.” But it may end up being “stagnation” or “disappointment” or “sadness.” Life is a kaleidoscope. Constantly in flux.

This year, I choose the word “change.” Change can be good. Change can be bad. It can devastate or restore. It can bring sorrow. It can bring joy. It’s a simple word with depth of meaning. I know some things in my life are about to change. Other things that I expect to stay the same may surprise me and change this year as well. Either way, I expect the change.

Whatever you may face this year – whatever change comes your way – be confident in Christ’s love for you. Facing change might be difficult but as a child of God you do not face it alone. Remember His promises. Remember His truths. Remember He is faithful and trustworthy. Hold tightly to His Word. And above all, know who is really in control. Christ!

I will meditate on Your precepts and regard Your ways. I shall delight in Your statutes; I shall not forget Your word. ~Psalm 119:15-16
