Oh, the Struggle! Part 1

Relational struggles are part of life. When we begin to see them for what they really are, they are easier to accept and manage.

Today, I just want to share something brief.

We live in a world that contains constant struggles. We struggle in so many ways, yet it seems our relationship struggles affect us the most. Marriage, family, friendships, work, neighborhood, church…maintaining these on solid ground can be difficult. There is always the potential for misunderstanding, misinformation, and miscommunication to occur that damages things. It is easy to get angry, to throw up our hands, to walk away and deem the whole thing a failure (or at least we consider ourselves a failure). It is easy to blame others, to misunderstand them, to accuse them of purposeful hurt. Well, you get the point!

One thing I am learning in life is that ultimately, the problems (or struggles) are not from the other person or party. They are from Satan, who seeks to destroy us in every way possible. He seeks to destroy our families, churches, marriages, and every other relationship we have. That is what he does! He is a destroyer! Check out this verse:

12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. [Ephesians 6:12 NASB]

Try and remember, we are not fighting each other. It feels like it, it appears to be so, but in reality we fight against the forces of darkness – spiritual forces – that seek to destroy us!  Because of this struggle, we need to be prepared for the battle! It will come. The question is will you be ready.
